Urban Rider is free to start on iOS and Android. The two apps are built separately and carry their own version numbers, so an iOS release and an Android release with the same feature will not share a number. Each entry below says which platform it belongs to.

Introducing the Garage: stay on top of your maintenance
Urban Rider now tracks when your vehicle is due for service. Set up a Garage for each vehicle, tell it how yours is powered (petrol, electric or pedal), and get a tailored checklist: tyres, brakes, oil, chain, battery and more. Reminders follow how far you actually ride, so you are nudged at the right time, not too early or too late. Switch on notifications, snooze anything you are not ready for, and tap a due job to route straight to your saved mechanic or the nearest fuel and air. Everything stays private on your device.

- Ride on cycle paths. If you ride a light 25 to 30 km/h moped that belongs on the cycle path, turn on the new option under Speed and warnings and your routes will follow cycle paths.
- Microcar profile (beta) for light quadricycles, with routing tuned to where they belong.
- Find a public toilet nearby, with a list, map pins and directions.
- Report a routing problem right from your ride summary.
- More polish and reliability fixes throughout.

Relive your ride, then share it
- Watch it back in the app. Ride Replay plays your recorded trip right in the app, so you can watch the whole route play back from your ride history.
- Share your ride as a video. Turn any recorded ride into a clean, shareable clip with your distance, top speed, and a map that follows the route. Pick the length and format (portrait or square) before you export.
Your favourites, now on the map
- Saved places appear as pins on the map when you are not navigating. Tap one to route there instantly.
- For a custom saved place, choose your own icon so each pin is easy to spot at a glance.
Smarter reroutes
Reroutes now remember the closures on your trip, so the app stops sending you back into a road it already knows is closed.
Voice search polish
Voice search now understands your language wherever you ride, and the microphone and speech permission prompts are fully localised.

The route overview tells you what you are riding into
Set a destination and the overview now gives you the three things that decide whether you take the route: the time, the distance, and how many speed cameras are on it. Camera warnings already fired as you approached one; the count now arrives before you pull away, which is when it can still change your mind.
The screen stays on
Navigation used to let the display sleep more often than it should. It no longer does, which matters most on a handlebar mount where waking the phone means taking a hand off the bars.

Bike types
The bike profile now asks what kind of bike you are on, and the routing changes with the answer:
- City: smooth roads and cycle paths, for everyday trips.
- Road: fast tarmac, skipping cycle paths and rough surfaces.
- Mountain: seeks out tracks, trails and gravel, and takes on the climbs.
If you have read the free bike route planner guide or the cargo bike piece, this is the setting those articles were reaching for: one profile could not sensibly serve a road bike and a gravel bike at the same time.
Better routing on hills
Hilly terrain used to send you the long way around a short steep stretch. It no longer does. Hill tolerance stays a separate control, so you can still tell the router how much climbing you are willing to accept.
Android
The Android app has its own release train and its own version numbers, and is currently on 1.34.0. Its release notes now appear in the list above alongside the iOS ones, and the full history is on the Google Play listing under “What's new”.
