The problem
A car app sends a microcar the wrong way.
Google Maps and Apple Maps route your microcar as if it were a full car that can hold 100 km/h and use motorways and ring roads. So they send a 45 km/h quadricycle onto fast roads it is not allowed on, and quote an arrival time no microcar could ever hit. There is no slow-city mode to switch on, and the avoid-highways toggle only drops the roads formally classed as motorways, not the fast arterials a microcar should also skip.

The microcar profile is tuned for light quadricycles capped at about 45 km/h, the L6e class you can often drive without a full car licence:

- Renault Twizy 45 and Mobilize Duo 45
- The 45 km/h version of the Microlino

Which microcars does the profile fit?
The 45 km/h light quadricycle class, known as L6e: the Citroen Ami, Fiat Topolino, Opel Rocks-e, Aixam, Ligier, Twizy 45 and similar voitures sans permis. These are capped at about 45 km/h and, like a moped, are kept off motorways and fast trunk roads, which is exactly what the microcar profile plans around.
Does it work for a Microlino or a faster quadricycle?
A quicker L7e quadricycle that reaches around 80 to 90 km/h, such as a Microlino, Silence S04, Twizy 80 or Mobilize Duo 80, is faster than the microcar profile assumes. For those, pick the motorcycle profile instead, which brings the faster roads back. The 45 km/h versions of these cars fit the microcar profile.
How do I turn on the microcar profile, and what does it cost?
Open Settings, then Vehicle, and pick the microcar profile. It is a new profile in beta, so double-check local signs as you ride. Urban Rider is free to start on iOS and Android with no account needed, and Premium unlocks unlimited routing and the ride-tuning settings.
